Remembering

Today is exactly 4 years ago that one of my sisters died unexpectedly (I wrote about it here). I "found" these images in one of the pages of my gelliplate-journal, and it immediately reminded me of her. And then I found the perfect words by James Frey to go with it. Hence, this journalpage was born ...

I also "had to" make a new mapface to deal with the horror in Manchester, and in the world in general.

So much hate, so much sadness.... And to top it all off: Trump was here in Belgium for 2 days :-( It kinda gave me a yucky feeling. I was appalled by his behavior at the Nato. But proud that 10000 people came to Brussels to protest his arrival :-)

Anyway, today was a beautiful sunny warm day, and I sat outside in the sun to work on my  mosaic. It's a very long time ago that I did something with mosaics, and I'd forgotten how much I like it. This is how far I've come today:

I will be linking this to Paint Party Friday tomorrow. Click on the link to visit artists around the world!

And, because we need it: a few laughs :-)

Hahaha, I needed that!

And here are the ones to think about ....

Thanks so much for your visit! I hope you are having the most wonderful day, and that your weekend will be full of joy. Stay safe ♥ ♥ ♥

  2. Yes, it's hard to get over the loss of a sister, I'm still sorry for mine who died much too early. Poor you having Trump in Belgium, what a slimy, monstrous git that man is- I loved seeing his wife slap his creepy fingers away. Great art, as always. Hugs, Valerie

  3. I do remember your post about your beloved sister. Your art is always so beautiful and full of meaning. Yes, the Manchester bombing makes me want to throw up-so horrible. We can only keep trying to live...and make art to get through. Happy PPF!

  9. Your drawings and words for your sister are beautiful. Loss is so hard, just as those "dates" that stick in our heart and mind. I was so happy to hear your thoughts on Trump visiting your Country and how you felt about it and him. You are lucky you only had to host him 2 days...most of us here in America are wondering "What the...". It is very scary times here. The media covers other Countries however I would rather hear from people of other Countries so thank you again for sharing. Happy PPF! Hugz, Rasz

  13. Your art work is so beautiful and bright and you always find such appropriate words to use with them. Four years is such a short time in the grand scheme of things. I can't imagine how it would feel to lose a sister. I still sorrow over my dh's passing almost 4 years ago and think of him every day as I know you do concerning your sister.

  15. This post makes me cry as I remember when you lost your sister!! Your words and art are ALWAYS so inspirational. What happened to the world as we knew it? So much greif...Always love your map faces... they need to be a coffee table book...or posters, prints, calendars or cards!! Your mosaic is beautiful.... I can see it hanging on a wall...or on a metal stick as garden art!! I love it!! Wishing you more giggles than greif this week!!

    Love and hugs

  18. Four years and the wounds are still fresh ... so sorry, but happy for you that you had the closeness while she was alive. Your art expresses the feelings of all who feel. Our world is a scary place and good God ... be thankful that Trump is only in your country for a day. I have to wake up every day to headlines of his idiocy. I so enjoy the distraction of your humor and the honesty of your art. You are a light in a very dark tunnel.

  19. I am so touched by the tribute to your sister and I am so sorry for your loss. Time is like a bandaid...it stops the bleeding but it doesn't stop the pain nor the scar after you heal.
Our world is a beautiful place. Thankfully there are beautiful people in it, too. Why the ugliness is more prevalent is a sad testimony to the human race.
Thank you for the laughs, too!

    Hugs 💕

As always your art touches my soul.

Holy cow! So happy to hear there was such a turn out of protesters! Funny how our news showed nothing of that!I would have liked to have relished in the fact that he was not welcome by citizens of other countries as well! Idiot!

Thank you for the funnies and inspiration my friend!thinking of you always! xoxo
